Tony Goodbar, MD

Tony R. Goodbar, MD

Dr. Goodbar is a board certified physician in both Adult and Adolescent Psychiatry.  After graduating from Erskine College in 1981 and the Medical University of South Carolina in 1985, he completed his Internship and Residency in both General and Child Psychiatry in 1990. He served as both President of the Medical Staff and Adolescent Program Medical Service Director at Charter Hospital of Greenville while originating Piedmont Psychiatric Services for private practice.

With over 30+ years experience, his primary focus is  on psychiatric evaluation and medication management specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of ADHD, mood and anxiety disorders in children and  as well as adults.

Jeffrey Smith, MD

Jeffrey K. Smith, MD

Dr. Smith received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Alabama. He completed his psychiatric residency at the William S. Hall Psychiatric Institute in Columbia, South Carolina.

Dr. Smith has been in private practice in upstate South Carolina since 1990, and his areas of interest include Major Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety Disorders, Adult ADHD, Psychotic Disorders, and Geriatrics.

Joseph Friddle, PA-C

Joseph Friddle, PA-C

Joseph is a licensed Physician Assistant who works in conjunction with Drs Goodbar and Smith. In 2004, he received an Associate of Science from Young Harris College and in 2007, a B.S. in Science from the College of Charleston. In 2009, he received his Masters of Science from the Medical University of Charleston, graduating on the Dean’s List.

He specializes in psychiatric diagnosis and treatment of mood and anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders and Adult ADHD. His focus is primarily on psychiatric evaluation and medication management.

Carrie Ballenger, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Carrie Ballenger, PMHNP

Carrie is a licensed Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner who works in conjunction with Drs Goodbar and Smith. She received her Bachelor’s degree for Registered Nursing from University of South Carolina Upstate in 2014 and received her Master’s Degree for being a nurse practitioner, specializing in psychiatric, mental health and nursing from the University of South Carolina in 2019.

Her treatment focus includes psychiatric diagnosis of mood and anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders and Adult ADD.

Our Therapists

Zach Adams, LISW-CP

Zach completed his undergraduate degree at Lee University Charlotte Center and his Master’s at Winthrop University.  He is a Licensed Independent Social Worker that specializes in ADHD, Anger Management, Anxiety, Asperger’s Syndrome, Behavioral Issues, Career Counseling, Coping Skills, Depression, Family Conflict, Grief, Life Transitions, Men’s Issues, Parenting, Peer Relationships, Relationship Issues, school issues, self-esteem, spirituality, and stress.  His treatment approach is one of a positive psychology that includes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy focusing on compassion, person-centered and strength based.

Ingrid L. Miller, MSW, LISW

Ingrid is a Licensed Independent Social Worker with over 30 years of experience in both inpatient and private settings. She received a BA in Psychology from Kent State University and a Master of Social Work from the University of Kentucky.

She specializes in solution focused/cognitive therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) for adolescents and adults. Her areas of focus are in the treatment of depression, anxiety, grief/loss and anger/stress management through individual counseling.

Mike Smith, Licensed Professional Counselor

Michael D. Smith, MA, LPC

Mike is a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 35 years experience and  training in both private and inpatient settings. He has an expansive clinical background from psychological testing, consulting, teaching  to supervision. He received a BA degree from Gardner-Webb College and a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology at Appalachian State University. In 1999, he  was awarded the designation of ‘Certified Diplomate in Psychotherapy’ by the American Psychotherapy Association.

He specializes in individual therapy for mood and anxiety disorders, grief/loss issues, anger/stress management, and occupational injuries.
